Help Me Understand Your Satin Fetish

Post by SatinCurious »

Hi,

My name is Rachael and I registered for this form to find out more about satin and the people who love it.

I'm a writer working on an erotic story, and I want to include elements that will appeal to readers who have a love for satin. While I enjoy satin as part of my own wardrobe (mostly in the form of panties and nighties), my difficulty is that I'm not especially familiar with it as a sexual fetish. I want to treat the appreciation of this special kind of fabric with the respect it deserves and present the clothing in the story in the most appealing way for someone who has an abiding desire for it. Instead of just trying to guess the best way to do this, I was hoping that I would find some "experts" here to help guide me in my efforts.

Here are a few questions I have:

1) What is it about satin that turns you on the most? I suspect the bottom line here is the feel of it, but lots of stuff feels good - so what is it specifically about satin that you don't get from anything else?

2) Is it ONLY satin for you, or are there other fabrics or shiny materials that have an equally erotic impact on you?

3) What don't most people understand about the love of satin, or about satin lovers themselves?

4) What mistakes do authors often make when writing about satin or satin clothing items? What's the thing that pisses you off the most in a story when it comes to depicting your favorite fabric?

These are just a few of the things that are on the top of my mind. I'm open to learning everything and anything about this passionate interest. And don't forget, I'm a porn writer, so don't feel you have to tip-toe around the explicit stuff for my sake.

You can either respond on this thread, or if you'd rather keep it private you can PM me with your thoughts.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I love how soft it feels and how shiny it is. It's the look and feel of it that just arouses me . It's so soft and smooth I have never felt a material like it. It's hard to explain why it arouses me. It would be like someone who loves the feel of PVC or Nylon trying to explain to me why it makes them aroused. I would not understand it but they do. Hell some guys get aroused by being kicked in the balls but it makes me cringe. The best way I can think to explain it is that it's the softness and the shininess of the fabric and how it tapers to a woman's body. It almost flows like liquid

I can answer 4) for everyone: Keep the satin stuff on, and utilize it!! Too many stories simply start off with "her satin dress was beautiful", then take the dress off and have it lying on the floor for the whole story. Use it, and you're already miles ahead of everyone else!

It's often due to an early defining experience with satin. Many people have a story of their first encounter. And it's pre-puberty often. I played in the silky under skirt of my mum's ball gown and it felt amazing. Then a little later I went to a family friend's house who had hung satin sarees over their bedroom to make a big satin cave/tent. They had a huge bed with satin sheets. I nearly came on the spot. And that was that!

This forum shows there's a huge range of types of satin fetishist. Some love wearing it - and those split into types of clothes (some love puffer jackets, some nightwear, some bridal.) Some just love seeing it or including it in sex, as far as I've found from talking to people on here.

I think that there is still the idea that CDs are gay. Mostly they are straight. In fact probably love women more than most as dressing up is more of an emulatuon and love of femininity. Satin is the ultimate feminine material.

I agree that I'd like to ensure the satin is used. To me satin feels like a million light fingers caressing you at once. So stroking and teasing with satin is a huge turn on. Seeing it's sheen is amazing as is hearing its sound as it moves. Even its smell is unique.

I love satin bondage too. Being totally enveloped in satin and not being able to get away is a massive turn on. But not sure how many others share that.

I do like latex... so obviously I like the sheen for some reason. I know a few of us are very private about our fetish as we feel very misunderstood. Many women react badly to our fetish. It's a holy grail to find a woman who accepts or even enjoys our fetish. Those who do have that are the lucky ones.

I'm a writer too. I've never considered porn writing. Would it be ok to PM you about it?

Hope that helps

This fetish takes many forms.

Most people enjoy the touch, the sight, and the swishing sound of layers of satin. Touching it not just with the hands or cock, but also the face, the mouth, the arms, the legs, the entire body.

Some people like the visual and tactile aspects of the material, some enjoy it because of the roles and stereotypes associated with some specific satin outfits (the submissive secretary in a satin blouse, the loving mature woman in a robe, the whore/slut in satin lingerie, the newly-wed woman in her bridal gown, the naive princess) - sometimes with ties to taboo or age-play fantasies (prom/quinceanera).

To some people, it's all about "sexy" items of clothing - panties, bras, satin slips, and it should be teasing and revealing. To others, the pleasure is in very formal or traditional outfits, covering the full body, that wouldn't be considered "sexy" by a normal person - the fetish is about seing such outfits under a new sexual angle. This applies in particular to certain cultures and parts of the world (eg Asia) in which some traditional costumes are made of satin.

Some people want to see the satin tainted, cummed on, wasted, burnt, torn. Some find it too precious to be wasted. To some people, the climax is the total destruction of the outfit, torn and soaked in cum. Some others will find it even more erotic if their partner continues wearing the satin item almost untainted after a sex session, as if nothing happened.

Some people only want to touch and enjoy their partner's satin clothes - some others want to experience it so intimately that they want to wear it. And with wearing satin come all the fetishes associated with cross-dressing, forced feminization, sissification - in various forms and degrees of submission. The whole spectrum goes from a naked macho alpha male enjoying his satin-clad partner... to a guy wrapping one of his partners' outfits around his cock and occasionally trying a satin slip... all the way to being turned into a submissive, cock-loving satin sissy with tarty make-up and accessories (while remaining "straight" at heart, because the taboo pleasure is in transgressing this straightness).

To some people satin can be so arousing that it makes them accept, and lust for, cross-dressed males or trans women, as long as they wear satin. Satin can be the secret entrance to a world between masculinity and feminity. To other people's, heterosexuality will always trump their lust for satin, and it's important to make it clear there's a macho bull in charge...

So keep in mind that you can't write a story that will appeal to everyone in the satin fetish community. If you try to cram every possible detail and outfit and way of enjoying satin in your story, it's likely that it'll contain a RED FLAG or big turn off for everybody. Find a niche you're interested in exploring, and stick to it. Chat with people and see what they like, you'll get an idea for what's a consistant path through all possible options.

One way to approach the writing: think of the satin outfit as a third partner in a threesome.

Let me start by offering my sincerest thanks to everyone who so generously replied to my plea for help! Not all communities are so understanding and welcoming of outsiders or "tourists" like myself. I'm humbly grateful for the amazingly detailed feedback so far.

@Lovesatinblouses: "...flows like liquid" I love that imagery and will definitely want to include that visual as part of my story.

@softsatin: "keep it on" Perfect! Exactly the kind of insider info I was looking for and something I certainly would have screwed up as a neophyte satinist.

@satinfantasy: "puffer jackets" Now there's something I had no clue about. I have a whole new perspective on outerwear! Who knew I might be getting guys hard while all bundled up in my winter coat? "CDs are mostly straight" This is something I had an inkling about (big fan of Eddie Izzard), but I think it's an important distinction to make within the context of a character's personality.

@smoothnshiny: "Satin can be the secret entrance to a world between masculinity and femininity" Okay, now we're getting into the juicy stuff. I love the idea of satin serving as a catalyst for people to slip across boundaries. The physical properties of this seemingly simple fabric has the ability to provoke one to shed gender-enforced inhibitions and simply enjoy a sensual experience without prejudice about the source of that pleasure. This will go a long way to informing my approach to satin in my writing (and in my life!).

Thanks, again! And I'm still curious to hear from anyone else who has something to add or who would like to elaborate on one of the merits of satin that has already been touched upon.

Rachael

Every man has a trigger, mine just happen to be satin shirts. It's like being gay, I was born like this. I don't remember a time when the trigger wasn't there. It's like the portal through which my sexuality is accessed.

It's visual, tactile and aurally stimulating. If it's not there, I'm not turned on. If it is there I can't turn it off.

Some men are triggered by skinny. Some guys like blondes. Some guys like nylons. Some guys like angora sweaters. Some guys like naked women.

My wife laughs at me and will point out street porn when she sees it in public. One of her friends came to dinner with this gorgeous satin blouse and we had to call the party early so we could get down and dirty as soon as they left.

She'll meet me for dinner wearing a blouse I love just to drive me crazy. People who report a little bit of kinky ness in their love life say they are more satisfied with sex, it's more passionate and it never gets to feel mechanical.

I turned 15 in 1975. The hormones kicked in just about the time the Disco Era started. I was surrounded by shiny blouses. I could sit in a class with five women and a teacher wearing what turns me on. I had a permanent erection for five years.

My first date with my first real girlfriend started with her wearing a satin blouse over a satin turtle neck. We went back to her place and had some of the greatest sex of my life.

I got married later in life. I'm 6'2" tall, I weigh 197 lbs, I practice several martial arts, I look like Mr Clean and I played guitar professionally. I interviewed a lot of women and I had intercourse with 75 of them. Four or five were into it as much or more than me. Half of the women you meet will not indulge this fetish. 25% will experiment with it but will never feel comfortable with it. 20% will understand it and enjoy it. 5% will be right there with you. I experienced all of these types and married a woman who understands and enjoys it.

I remember the time I figured it all out. I was 14. My Mom was a nurse so we always had frank sex talks about sex from the time we were little. There was always a copy of The Joy Of Sex on a book shelf in the guest bedroom and it was a great place to read and satisfy a natural curiosity. There was a section on having sex with clothes on and a section on fetishes and all of a sudden it clicked and I could chart myself on a spectrum. It took me a long time to get comfortable with it. I never really mastered it until I met my wife. I enjoyed it, I really enjoyed it but I never felt completely comfortable with it. I always felt it was a vulnerability. I knew I was different. A spurned lover could expose me. I always risked ridicule and rejection. My wife is a psychotherapist and her day job is sitting with couples talking about their sex lives so my fetish seems pretty tame to the things she hears in her office.

I love the idea of the 'ritual' of a woman dressing up for sex in clothing that is designed to titilate and turn on. The idea of enhancing natural sexuality by putting a sexy 'mask' on that transforms the wearer from every day person to sexual lover

For me, it's black/purple satin nighties, robes and panties (colour is important) with silky shiny stockings and heels - classy boudoir wear :D

It's the way the satin looks and feels - simple; especially when it is on a female in sexual activity The satin accentuates the movement and just looks like it must be enhancing her pleasure as it caresses and tickles the skin only like satin can :D

When the clothing (such as the robe) is then used as part of the action while the woman keeps the rest of the outfit on, it drives me wild. Sharing the pleasure of the outfit For example, the robe being placed over the males body so his torso and cock can be caressed and tickled through the fabric while the satin clad woman rubs against the robe - satin on satin... Or when the cock is wrapped with satin and used as part of the action - awesome.

It's also nice if in the finale, the cum splatters over the satin and adds to the shiny mess that was once perfect so the results of the sexual activity are very visible.

The good thing about satin is that it suits both submissive and dominant characters, so it could be the sex vamp or the sex slave who is wearing the satin. Satin bondage where the sub is being caressed through clothing without being able to stop it is mind blowing - as is the idea of a confident domme in a black nightie having her way with a weak man.

The ideas are endless :=)

You realise it would be an incredibly niche story if you focussed so much on this particular fetish?

I suspect it would merely bemuse the wider public.

If it's just for fun then fair enough, but I doubt it would make any commercial sense.

The details shurely are different by all of us.

Most things are already said correctly, so I can agree.

For me, it is not really the material itself, but what it stands for.
A lady, dressed in a super perfect ball gown, looks like a princess. Like something you can not reach, you will never have in bed.

Having sex with such a pretty princess is the most interesting part for me.

Ist the game with the opposites: The virgin princess, untouched. Lovely, sweet.
But than, in bed, she turns to be a real cock-hungry slut who fucks the brain out of you.

Cumming over the dress means to break the picture of the unguilty, lovely princess.

You can find videos of gils having sex in a wedding dress. Mostly, the take it off when it starts to get serious.
It is so much more horny when she keeps in on.
Everybody has a signature, but me.

I can remember going shopping at a early age with my mum, I saw this satin fabric instantly caught my eye, I went over and touched and that's all it took, 1 look 1 touch and I've been addicted to satin/silk ever since. Now I have many satin/silk items and sheets I'm addicted & women look so dreamy and sexy in satin/silk he he :D

My turn...

For me the whole satin thing started when I was a teenager with a movie called Beetlejuice in which a woman dresses in a shiny outfit and I wondered what must it be like to slide under it and be in her with it covering me. This is the outfit I was tallking about, the woman in this dinner scene in the gold-ish jump suit...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3j9jpBez8g

From that I tried to find things around the house for things like it and only found soft sheets but they weren't satin just cotten. Then a few years later I found a satin skirt my mum had and played with it. I played with it a bit too much one time and came on it (which was my very first time).

Even more years later I lost my virginity to a woman wear a long deep purple satin chemise, and after having a fetish for satin for over 5 years before hand, it was perfect to have sex for the first time with a woman wear satin. Which btw has given me a more attraction to women wearing the colour purple.

Now I have had a fetish for satin for now 20 years and its the most powerful fetish as I have picked up more over the years.

For me what I love about satin is...

Feel: The feel of the soft silky material is the most erotic feeling material in the world. I love its smoothness and how it flows over the body. I sleep in satin sheets every day and it feels amazing especially on hot nights when sleeping nuked, plus I always wear satin boxers.

Sight: The look of satin is great, with its shiny glossy material. A woman wearing satin is the sexiest thing she could wear. The way satin flows over a womans body is perfect (especially a curvy woman), and the way it moves when she does is amazing.

Sound: The sound of satin moving is such a turn on to hear, especially during sex. That swishing sound it makes is so arousing.

end of transmission...

I find it very intriguing that so many of you have mentioned the erotically aural qualities of satin. This is something I would have totally missed without your wonderful insights!
