Singaporean here. Though I'm staying in the US for work at the moment.
Back in Singapore, I like to shop in the Malay cultural area near Paya Lebar. I had a few bad experience shopping online, so nowadays I prefer to touch the satin fabric before forking out my hard-earned cash

Rayon-acetate mix
Does anyone have any experience with satin made of rayon-acetate mix? How is the fabric? Silky? Soft? Can it be hand-washed or dry-clean only?
All my satin collection so far has been polyester satin. I'm looking to venture into some new stuffs and saw this nice rayon-acetate mix gown

Re: Poshmark user jpault
I’m not sure why anyone uses Poshmark, honestly. The shipping kills every single deal. Well, that's where the crowd is apparently... I listed my dress here 4 weeks ago, and no one even left any comment. On Poshmark, it was sold in under a week. The same goes for buying. I had looked for a particula...

Just wanna check if the Poshmark user "jpault" (aka Jeremy) happen to be a member here.
He just bought my Jenny Yoo dress on Poshmark. If he is on here we can deal directly to save some fees and taxes

Re: Satin resources in the SF Bay Area
Depends where you are. Gas isn't cheap round these parts and you really need to bear in mind where you're based out of. Can probably recommend most of the south peninsula towards the San Jose. Fremont, Dublin pleasanton area, Oakland, more thrift stores in Berkeley and Palo Alto, and parts of Marin...

Re: Satin resources in the SF Bay Area
Aha, I thought you were looking for new items. The used market is a lot wider. There is Chinatown as mentioned previously, the quality of goods is always wanting. My successes in finding good items here in the bay are to visit thrift shops in relatively good neighborhoods. The major ones here are G...

Re: Satin resources in the SF Bay Area
What sort of thing are you looking for? Cause I can tell you there isn't much. I'm looking more for charity / second-hand shops that have some nice satin prom dresses. I know that there is always the good old eBay, but I have become more inclined to buying my satin in physical stores, where I can t...

Re: Vintage Hollywood satin dresses
Back in the late 90s, a more slender me, purchased about 20 bridesmaids/prom dresses for $5-10 each from thrift (charity) stores. These dresses were still from the time the US manufactured much of its apparel. So many of them have the Union label sewn inside. The fabric was also a rich acetate sati...

Re: Very Classy Elegant Long Satin Dresses
Hi ellmoss, that's a very elegant dress indeed!
Just one question. The fabric seems to have some "grainy" texture to it. Does the texture affect the silky touch of the satin? Is it as smooth as others?
I'm eyeing a similar one, but is hesitating because of the texture.
