How to upload pictures

Post by satinforum »

Here is how you do it.

- On the new post, near the bottom choose the “Upload Attachment” tab – it’s next to the “Options” tab underneath the bit where you type your message.
- Press the “Browse” button next to filename and it opens a window to find the file on your computer. Select the file
- Now press the “Add the file” button (it’s next to the “Browse” button)
- A new area will appear just below the bit where you type your message. Press the “Place inline” button to add the image to your post
- Press the “Submit” button as normal to submit your post.

Please note that we do have a file size limit so you can’t post anything too big. You may need to resize it on your computer first if you get an error about the file size being too large. You can resize pictures using "paint" (built-in to Windows), or use an online service such as http://www.picresize.com/

If the size limitation is still too restrictive, then an alternative is to create a link to the pictures at an external image hosting website

I've tried everything including your resize thing and my pics still will not upload. I give up. I have nothing left to try.

What happens when you use the picresize service above?

For anyone struggling to post pics, (as I was,) here is a link to the free on-line image editor I used to re-size some of mine. Just upload your pics to this site, re-size as necessary, save to your documents and then upload them to this site.

If I can do it, ANYONE can do it!

The link above to an on line image editor I used to use no longer seems to work. I now use the following one which seems remarkably similar;

http://www.freeonlinephotoeditor.com/

Hope it's of some help.

Hello

I have tried all ways to upload pics. My problem is the file sizes are too big and I 've tried everything to reduce the file size so that I could get em on here. I even found a really ancient web cam but it had been damaged over the years pooh! I've tried cropping and changing formats not enough sigh! I'm open to any further suggestions.

Cheers Ian.

Do you have the "paint" program in your computer ? I believe it's built into Windows. You can re-size pix using that program. When you have the pic up, open with "paint" then upper left corner click "resize", when the size window opens clear the 100% and enter your own size, then save that image to a file to upload. I'm not very good at explaining things, but I hope this helps !! Pm me if you need help, I often have to downsize mine to fit also
If you have Mac, maybe another member can help you :D

Iansproson, I can help. :D

The method Satinstain explained works. But there is a better method for posting pictures here without sacrificing picture quality. It's also probably quicker than fumbling through paint. The answer is thumbnails.

I'm sure you are familiar with the image hosting sites used to store your picture collection online right? Like photobucket.com, imagebam.com, imagevenue.com, postimage.org and etc. Just upload your pics to one of these sites. It's also a great way to back up your photos if you ever lose your harddrive.

Anyway, once you upload your pic, there are options next to it that might say..."show codes" Go there...
and you'll see something like this:
http://postimage.org/image/b313ui573/code/
^See

Then all you do is Copy the one that suggests "thumbnails for forums." Go and paste that directing into your satinforum message and BAM, you'll see this picture below....
Image
^click and behold how amazing the resolution is!
Note:The above picture is like 2,000 KBs, yet I posted it with ease.

Honestly, it's ridiculous that uploads here are restricted to the 256k. But you can bypass all that using the method I described.
There is a 2nd method as well, that involves using the IMG button, but I don't want to overwhelm you. lol
Message me if you have any questions!
